FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) What does it mean to lease a beat?
When you purchase a beat lease, you are simply buying the rights to use the beat in a limited and non-exclusive capacity. J. Meeb retains ownership over the musical composition (just the beat).
2) Are the repeating BEAT TAGS removed from the beat after purchase?
Yes, the repeating beat tags are removed after purchase and the beat you receive will be tag-free, except the initial “Yo Meeb” tag will be kept on the beat. If you purchase a lease with Track Stems you will receive the “Yo Meeb” tag as a single track and are required to keep the tag on the beat.
3) What bulk discounts do you have and how do I get them?
I am currently running the following deals on multi beat purchases:
Buy 2, Get 1 Free: add 3 Beats of the same license type to your cart
Buy 3, Get 2 Free: add 5 Beats of the same license type to your cart
Buy 4, Get 3 Free: add 7 Beats of the same license type to your cart
Buy 5, Get 5 Free: add 10 Beats of the same license type to your cart
4) When will I receive my beat(s)?
Your beat(s) will be instantly available for download directly from the order summary page once you checkout and your payment has been processed. Additionally, an email will be sent to the address provided at checkout with the download links immediately after purchase. Be sure to check your spam folder if you don’t see the email right away. If you have any trouble accessing the files, email me at meebmusic@gmail.com
5) What are Stems?
Stems (also known as trackouts/track stems) are the individual audio files that make up a beat, meaning each sound within the beat will be sent as a separate high quality WAV audio file. Leases that include stems are ideal if you plan on recording your song in a professional studio and want to have full control over mixing each instrument around your vocals.
6) What happens if I exceed the stream/unit sale limit of my current lease?
You must upgrade your lease to the next tier by contacting me at meebmusic@gmail.com. The cost of the upgrade is simply the price of the new lease minus the amount you already paid for your original lease.
7) What if I purchase a license and then later on, someone else purchases the Exclusive Rights?
The purchase of Exclusive Rights to a beat does not impact the status or validity of previous licensees so you do not need to remove your music from streaming services, social media, etc. for the full term of your lease agreement.
8) What’s the difference between a LEASE license and EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS?
The difference is that a Lease license can still be sold to others even after you purchase it. You do not own full rights to the beat, you are just leasing it, or purchasing a license to use it. An Exclusive Rights license grants you exclusive ownership of that beat. Once the Exclusive Rights for a beat has been purchased, the beat is automatically removed from the website and not leased or sold again.
9) What’s the difference between an Unlimited License and an Exclusive?
The usage rights are the same for both: you get unlimited sales, streams, etc. The difference is, if you purchase the Exclusive, the ownership rights to the beat are transferred to you and the beat is immediately removed from my beat store, never to be sold to another artist again. The Unlimited License is still non-exclusive, so even though you get the same usage rights as if you owned the Exclusive, the beat will remain in my beat store for others to lease or buy.
10) How much are the Exclusive Rights to a beat?
Exclusive Rights pricing is negotiable. Email me at meebmusic@gmail.com for more information or to negotiate.
11) How do I PURCHASE beats?
To purchase beats, follow these simple steps:
1) Click the ADD button next to the beat you want
2) Choose a license
3) Click your cart in the upper right corner
4) Click Proceed to Checkout
5) Check the box to agree to the beat license agreement
6) Checkout securely with PayPal or credit card
Immediately after purchase you will receive an email containing your license contract as well as links to download your new beat(s).
12) What can I do with a FREE BEAT DOWNLOAD?
Free beat downloads are free for non-profit use only. If you would like to release a song commercially then you would have to buy a lease to use the beat. When you buy a lease all the tags that are heard throughout the beat are removed. Only the initial “Yo Meeb” producer tag will be kept on the beat if you purchase the “Basic” license.
13) Can you make me a CUSTOM beat?
Of course!
Custom Beats include an ‘Unlimited’ Lease license to use the beat. After the beat is made, you will get your license to use this beat and the beat will also be posted to the website for sale to others. You can upgrade your license to ‘Exclusive Rights’ with additional payment. See more details on how to purchase a custom beat under the ‘Services’ section of the website.
14) I made a SONG to one of your beats. Can I send it to you to get some FEEDBACK?
Sure! I am always happy to hear what my clients create on my beats. Tag me @j.meeb on Instagram or send an email at meebmusic@gmail.com
